A company advertise on ebay. I think it is from £160 to £300 anywhere in the uk.

hiring a van is cheaper than that if you can drive, as only a short run really,

The one on eBay is called HTC Motorbike Collection Delivery. Never used them myself, but the feedback on eBay seems to say that it is good.

Might be worth trying to use your breakdown cover. Laughing (Danny did this with success when he bought his GPZ Thumbs Up )

Just out of interest how did he disable his bike so that the mechanic did not pick up on it?

For information only, I used a company called headstock, www.headstocktransport.co.uk they picked up a bike a bought on ebay from Bristol and delivered to Edinburgh for £190 - no problems very good easy service.
Check them out - I would use them again.
