I am rebuilding the top end of my single cylinder 2 stroke engine, I'm fitting a new small end bearing and according to the Haynes manual the small end bearing needs to be lubricated before it's fitted but it doesn't say what to lubricate it with? i was thinking either bath it in 2 stroke oil for 5 minutes or using a bit of this?

Any recommendations?

Thanks guys

I just liberally doused it in 2T oil.

I can just drizzle a bit of this over the new small end bearing?

Generally, whatever you put on it will be washed off by the fuel/oil mix that fuels the motor when it's running, and it's that same fuel/oil mix that will lubricate the top end bearing in the future so if you don't want to spend extra money on other lubricants just dip it in 2t oil and go for it. Just keep it all clean as the slightest bit of gritshit in the bearing will cause problems.
