Every time you do this, a kitten dies.

It won't bend the stand unless you are a fat wanker but sitting on a bike when it's on it's stand does make you look like a wanker*

*yes, even more than you usually do, Jizz

I broke a stand doing less. I have done worse and nothing snapped.

Risky business.

Why do you need to sit on it like that everyday? Confused

I'm not normally rude, inciteful, antagonistic or owt like that. In fact, I'm usually quite a mild person. But FFS OP, get a life! Rolling Eyes

the stand is to hold the bike upright when not in use

my kawasaki 80 broke the stand lug off the frame before it was 12 months old as I didn't know any better and I had to pay to get it welded back on (this was 1985)

I do find it somewhat amusing that even when BodyGuard asks a legitimate question now he still just gets roundly abused (with the exception of paddy)

Oh BCF, you do amuse. Laughing

And he was told it by a chap who heard it from a bloke who learned it from a fellow who had it in good authority from this cove...

God smiles on fools and drunks.

It'll be fine until it isn't.

That wasn't abuse. You'd notice if it were...

Well, I used to kickstart my TTR on its stand. Hard to do it when it was so tall, so standing on the pegs was fine.

I leant on the KTM while it was on its sidestand and it disintegrated.

Unsure what happened.. but equally so I don't think I'll be abusing many more stands.

Simples :
True that the sidestand will eventually bend if sat upon by a fat bastard or a total fkn wanker like wot jizz-bunny is.

In pillow-monster's case the kickstand has not bent because it has been welded to the front sprocket (to four tho) using flexi-weld rods.

Milf-hunter might want to try an R6, they have more substantial side- stands.

There is a lot of variety on BCF, some cute, some funny, some off the wall and some really fkd up perso's.

In the "I need attention" category, I'm not sure who is more of a dafty: you?, boozehawk? or rogerblob ?

Unsure what happened

Zoom and enhance.

The GS is prone to bendy pivot, confirmed by careful speculative observation.

The Enfield is prone to strippy-bolt on the plate to which the stand is attached, confirmed by stripping the bolt.

In neither case will the stand itself bend though.

I wouldn't like to generalise. It's possible that the Verdydearo (Wub U MCW) is prone to neither.

Hi

Depends on the bike, and the angle the stand sits at. Some bikes will probably be fine. Others might snap the mount from the frame, resulting in damage that an insurance company would write the bike off for.

All the best

Since he got a Varadero rather than an Enfield.

Well my Varadero weighs significantly more than I do dry seeing as I've been doing it since forever I'm going to carry on always got the centre stand if it becomes fubar.

I have just the question. Why?
The sidestand is designed to support the bike when it's not moving, I'm not going to say I haven't done it but why make a habit of it? It seems a little rash to just say 'f*** it, if it breaks I've got something else to use'
