I recentley bought a hyosung rx 125 and today when riding it developed a loud constant clicking sound valves? It then began to smoke which makes me think the valve seals were gone
After about half an hour of clicking the engine made a loud grinding /crunch sound and wouldnt start again
Any thoughts what might of happend and what will need replacing
Thanks

yeah, as paddy said probably best to source a second hand engine, be much easier to just straight swap it, unless your on a low budget, but still doesnt sound great!

Sad

Engine would likely be cheaper than stripping it down to find shagged bottom end bearings.

Cant seem to find a replacement hyosung engine anywhere and its about £80 for the 4 valves springs and seals And another £40 for piston and ring kit but im going to have to get it stripped and checked first as it would be a waste of money if its got a shagged bottom end but the tapping was definately a top end sound , hopefully it is the valves as i cant find a replacement engine for this bike but there is a similar engine for £350 brand new but just doesnt seem worth it....

I recently just found out that Hyosung make a 400cc for the RX. Never seen one before but apparently they do make them. Also the RX is similar to a Suzuki DR-Z, so you might be able to fit one of these engines (125 or 400) if you are unable to source a Hyosung one.

Coincidentally, my RX125 has made a knocking sound since new - on start up, but goes away once the engine is warm. Sounds to be top end too.

Yes it is a clone engine and the bike would also make the sound on startup for a few seconds then go away but then it became constant and the bike began to smoke until it eventually made the crunch sound and wouldnt start again

Hyosung engines are made of chocolate. Rolling Eyes

I once had a GT650R that only lasted 6000 miles and stranded me in the Czech Republic.

Probably best if you could get a Suzuki engine fitted.
