 |
|
I used to just buy green army bungees. I still have some which will be well over 10 years old now. They are like something that should have been banned by the Haig convention. Strong as hell, the more you stretch them, the more they pull back. Your luggage stays put.
I've tried to get them several times since. There are loads of people selling what LOOK like green army bungees but they are useless. Very little elasticity and if you over-stretch one, they break. They certainly don't keep my luggage in place.
It's not just my imagination, I still have some of the old ones and put side-by-side, the new ones would take half the force to stretch them out to their full length.
I've tried various brands of commercial bungees and they are just as bad.
I am aware of things like rok straps and camlock straps but I've been happily using bungees to load my bike for 20 years now. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

I've been having a similar problem with this search. I keep on at them where I work about addressing this issue with their products, and was told improved versions would be looked into, but I've seen no results yet. I was given a stronger cargo net to try out, and although it has held up for a few months, it's still not of the quality I'm looking for. They strengthened the hooks and elastic on this one, but nope, not really happy with it. I used to get good ones from a local automotive accessories shop where I used to live, but not had time to really look around where I am now.
I'll mention it to our QC fella again today if I see him, although sorry that doesn't help you right now. ____________________ Chickenystripgeezer's Biking Life (Latest update 19/10/18) Belgium, France, Italy, Austria tour 2016 Picos de Europa, Pyrenees and French Alps tour 2017 Scotland Trip 1, now with BONUS FEATURE edit, 5/10/19, on page 2 Scotland Trip 2 Luxembourg, Black Forest, Switzerland, Vosges Trip 2017

Tried Costco?
I bought these green rubber things and cannot fault them. Been using them for a while now and the only thing is that the they get dirty very easily and don't look so good but the rubber has not perished even being used in all weathers.
You can also get them in different colours.
