Big One and Giannelli both did pipes for the MTX125.
If the original pipe is unavailable or un usable, I would consider the Big One pipe. It's the silencer that is the poor quality bit really compared to a DEP or similar.
I have a Big One full system on my KMX125, and though it's louder than stock, it's far from offensive. Certainly it's far quieter than a Ginanelli system, which are reported to make the most top end power on KMX's but with loads of tinny noise too! Also Giannelli pipes have a reputation for having bugger all midrange power compared to the std pipe on many 125's of that era.
I plan on dyno'ing my KMX with the Big one pipe, and then trying a Giannelli back to back, to see which gives the best power curve, before I have a system chromed.
The KMX pipe won't fit the MTX it runs on the wrong side, and modern CR125 pipes are again all routed on the RHS and are a totally different shape that would be hard to make fit. I doubt you'd get good performance from a CR pipe anyway, as the CR revs to 11500-12000rpm, and the max power on the MTX125 is at about 8700rpm.
If you do fit a Giannelli pipe, let us know how you get on, as Id be interested to see how it goes anyway! |
