Hi

Can anyone recommend a cheap spring compressor for a USD fork?

I've got compressors for a car spring but the hooks are a bit too big to fit between the motorcycle spring coils and the dampener.

Have been trying to come up with some way of attaching the hooks to the spring without the whole thing going wrong and taking my head off.

After great effort, here's how I managed to do it, this is an upside-down fork (USD) from a Honda CBR600RR 2007:

Hanging basket hooks from homebase @ £2.59 for a pack of 3. Also available from B&Q.

Small cargo/ratchet straps from TK Maxx @ Approx £10.

Hooks into the small holes of the plastic housing at the top of the fork, strap wrapped around the base of the fork and then compress the whole thing down.

It was either this or buy the Traxxion Dynamics fork spring compressor which seems to be about £75 to import. I'd imagine this technique would work on other forks. Could do with a vice to hold the stanchion though otherwise you'll need a helper.
