I like V-Twins, but dont currently own one.

I've been looking for a nice v twin thats not too mental
I dont want it to be faster than my current bike, which is more than fast enough for me (1997 Fireblade)
I'd like it to be good on bumpy roads
I'd like it to be not too uncomforatable.

I dont think ducati supersprts or mille's are right for what I want

2K - 3K

Any thoughts?
Thanks Very Happy

SV1000N/S, just like the TL without the overpriced 'reputation'.

VTR1000? Not very popular and can be had for cheap.

Bad brakes though, terrible tank range, but at least its not an SV.

But it is an SV.

Decent suspension on the TL, sexy looking TL.

TL.

TL's more powerful, looks better and has a better suspension set up. TL-S's are also cheaper than the SV thou's.

Found my S quite lardy, but more than good enough.

However, could just buy a Street Triple Thumbs Up

Moto-Guzzi Daytona - The forgotten sport-twin. VGVFM at the mo; they don't have the classic cudos of the older Le-Mans, a Ducati-Badge or the familiarity of the Jap V-sports. Sort of shaft-drive air-head BMW with Italian soul. Might be worth checking out.

I'll recommend a BT1100 because I have one.
They were instantly disliked by the biking press because it's not hugely fast or powerful.
It does handle rather well and has excellent brakes.
You have masses of lowdown torque there are some similarities to a Buell.
Sold loads in Germany and Italy so parts are no problem at all.
Shaft drive too Very Happy

ST3 is considered to be the best out of the ST bunch.

Whoring time.

Yes I'm biased but these both cost a third(ish) of your budget, are fast, comfy and fun.

They both give me a hardon and apart from being thirsty (the R especially) have given me the best bang for buck out of any bike I have ever owned.

A decent SV will cost more than a TL.

Not once the suspension/tyres are set up well. I did 1500 miles on mine in 4 days and had nothing more than wrist ache from a prior injury.

Falco/Tuono. Essentially more upright (of varying degrees) Mille's

TRX850, perhaps a TDM even though theyre a parallel twin?

How about an early Multistrada if you like the looks?

Definitely Mille, Falco, Firestorm, TLS then TLR or Ducati 900SS.

I'd consider an SP2 in Edwards colours if I was feeling flush, didn't mind a lot of discomfort and wanted something really rare!

When I had a ZX6R, I would have secretly have loved to swap it for a newish Yellow Falco after a while, as I really liked the look of them, and thought they were just that bit nicer and more capable than a TLS or VTR.

Stick an extra weight onto just one side of the fly wheel of your current bike and set the rev limiter 3k lower?

Same thing, none of the hassle of buying a new bike Wink.

G are all V-twin sportsbikes generally crap then?

Surely if you compare an equivalent fair comparison, so a 1200cc+ V-twin to a Litre IL4, there should be little in it in simple performance terms?

Have you ridden the 1198 or more recent Ducati's, or KTM RC8 out of interest? I am thinking maybe wrongly that you have been comparing 1000cc twins to 1000cc IL4's more often than not, which is not like for like IMO.
