Anyone know if you can ride across this (on a motorbike). From the pics I can find it looks possible, but on google maps it doesn't.

Trying to plan an interesting route across the pennines to visit my mother!

according to google people have at some point, you can physically ride over, assuming there's no gates? (doesn't appear to be any)

google maps shows it as an 'un named road' but alas, still a road

Thanks Shingami,

I'll take a look this weekend if the weather's half decent. The problem would be the very long diversion round if it's closed off. I'm heading from York to Wigan by the most scenic route I can find.

FWIW I was curious and did a google.
This Yorkshire Water cycle route says you can at least cycle over the dam. So if linked to other roads and not have any obstructions to limit motor vehicles you might be lucky.

Please post again if you are. Thanks Thumbs Up

Looks like it might get busy with walkers! I could always get off and wheel it across. I'm planning on taking my W650 over.

Not sure how relevant this is, but when i got lost on the way to the BCF bbq this year, i ended up going over this, which i though was quite neat at the time:

Don't think I'll be able to do this trip. After a bit of research I find there's a TRO in place on the road on the other side. Crying or Very sad

Besides, I think this track is probably a bit tough for a stock W650. What do others think?

These are the people campaigning to close off tracks like this:

Might still go over there to take a look at the scenery though but not make the trip out the other side.
