Hi,
I'm new to forum posting, but I'm having some issues with my bike which I was hoping somebody would be able to offer a helping hand with.
I have a 1992 550 Kawasaki Zephyr (my first bike, which I've had for about a year).
My seat on the bike is stuck, I've tried spraying wd-40 in and around the lock and under the seat where the catch possibly is, I've tried pushing it, pulling it, wiggling it etc. any ideas?
I have some work to do on my bike and could do with charging the battery so need access to take it out. I came off it on the way to work (about a month ago, but have been away from then until now) and now have a few bits to fix/replace. I replaced the alternator, which was smashed, before I left, but the battery is dead, so I was wanting to charge it and check I've done wiring etc. correctly.
Any help anyone could offer would be great.
Thanks
Dave
Also I should mention that it was a little temperamental when I first got it, and that I had originally thought that it may have been jammed on a luggage net I had stored in there, but that I managed to get that out from through where the tail piece fairing is. There are wires from a battery/charge reader under the seat and attached to the battery, but I don't think they the cause? |

You can get at the catch mechanism from the rear of the seat. You'll need hook of some description and IIRC, when this happened with my OH's 750 I removed the grab rail and rear cowl to help with access. The locking bar that hooks under the seat pulls toward the rear of the bike to release. |
