Looks okay, if it has pinlock then buy it. At 140 odd quid it should be decent enough quality.
If it doesn't have pinlock then find one that does, and make sure it's not just pinlock ready
but actually comes with an insert or you can expect another £30ish outlay buying one.

They are big, heavy things. My Nitro F341-VN offers the same features (and bulk and weight) for under half the price. Slightly lower SHARP rating on side impacts.

Go by fit though. Really.

looks great however I bought Caberg lid few months ago and it fogs too much, the unsulation is too thin and ventilation is not very good.

On the plus side it is lighter and I move my head easier with it and have better vissibility. Plus its pinlock ready.

Hence I have mixed feeling about Caberg. The new helmet stays in the cupboard and I still ride with my old spanish MT which is half of the price of Caberg but overall is better quality helmet.

Hope this Duke model is better. Try it first and if you like the quality of the materials and the fit buy it.

Note seems the fitting is different my old lis is L the Caberg is XL.

I think Caberg lids are meant to be quite noisy (from what I've read). As Roger says, Nitro lids are pretty similar, but cheaper. My Aikido was £60, then I got another for £20 new (as I needed some new cheek pads).

Actually that's something to consider, Nitro customer support is non-existent, Caberg's meant to be pretty good from what I've heard.

I've just upgraded from this helmet. Why? No other reason than I had the chance of buying a new lid (Shoei Qwest).

Was the duke comfy? Yes I tried it on in a shop before purchasing.

Does it have pinlock? Yes mine was included in the box.

Was it loud? It was quieter than my previous lid (LS2 385) but louder than my new one.

Internal sun visor....I found that it didn't drop low enough to cut down glare from wet ground reflections.

This review was helpful in my decision although I had NO problems getting it on and off.

Whether it looks good or matches your bike is irrelevant.


These are the main factors that you should consider, probably in that order, reducing your "shortlist" at each stage.

1 - Does it fit you better than the other helmets you tried.
2 - Is it more comfortable than the other helmets that do fit you.
3 - Does it score better on the SHARP test than the other helmets.
4 - Is it within your budget.
5 - Does it have all the non-essential features (luxuries) you want, e.g. pinlock, sun visor etc


Don't just decide on a helmet you like the look before considering any other factors, because if you end up with a bad fitting helmet then it can do as much harm as good.

Except you obviously can't listen to music with them in. So - not the best of solutions for some. Wouldn't bother me cos I don't. Haven't even got an iPod for one thing. *weeps*

Iirc I was going to get a caburg the other week. Do they often have those sliding vents on the top? If so, that'll be why some of them are noisy. There's essentially a portion on the top, about the size of a 20 fag packet, that's - well - missing.

My Caberg trip was horribly noisy. Certainly the worst helmet I have ever owned for noise.

I've got one. It whistles annoyingly at around 50mph. I find it comfortable though, and I do like the in build dark visor.

Try on a few 1st - some are much heavier than others and turn out quite literally to be a pain in the neck... Also, if you are looking at one of those fancy ones make sure it has all the ACU stickers, otherwise you may end up with one that is legal for the road but you can't use it on a track.

Best cheap helmets - a 'last year's colour' conventional one from one of the big makes...

Next time I get a new lid I'm going to check how much protection it gives against noise! 1st helmet cost €50 (box lid) it was heavy & I did not suffer from the wind noise & after 2 yrs I got another one £150 (agu) much lighter & was driving me mad because of wind noise. now I have to wear earplugs when I have that lid on!

I've got a Caberg Vox.... Fantastic helmet and found it nicer to wear than my old Nitro.

My Caberg is slightly noisier than the nitro, but it is so so much nicer to wear.

Try it on see how you feel in it....
