Hi mate, it's definitely going to have to go up for sale unfortunately, I've prolonged it long enough!

It literally hasn't moved an inch since my last update and is taking up valuable space in the workshop.... which brings me onto the Mito.... that's going too Shocked

Had to make some tough decisions recently but for now I'm getting rid of all remaining bike stuff while I get organised at home, I just don't have the room or time for another full project until I've built a couple of new sheds and landscaped the garden.

I've not lost anything with the Mito, although I had great plans for it I never really made a start on it and will just buy another when I've got the room.

I've just agreed to help a friend do a restoration on a 1969 Suzuki T350 (picked up the first few bits last night) so that will keep me busy enough for the time being anyway Smile

Doesn't feel such a shame anymore to be honest mate, I'm not taking any pleasure from either so best just to let them go Thumbs Up

I'll try and pick up another Mito late this year and have a fresh start but just need them (and all the boxes of bits and pieces) out the way for now.

I'm making a start on the T350 bits this weekend, will probably do a thread on what I'm doing with the bits and pieces on that

Thanks pal, had a few comments on it today Thumbs Up

So I managed to get it squeezed in for MOT today, passed no probs (it had only done 20 miles since it's last one in 2015 Laughing ) but by the time I got home my indicators are no longer flashing and the battery is flat!! Rolling Eyes

After much head scratching and trying to figure out where the relay is (I was sure there was only the one relay which is for starter) it suddenly came to me - regulator! The relay is built into that! Crying or Very sad

Have managed to find one but it's in Germany.... may as well cancel my insurance! Sad

Do not give up on it Thumbs Up

Improvise adapt and overcome! Is there not parts from another model that may fit/do the job?

I'm not giving up on it, I've ordered the one from Germany..... but how long is that going to take to arrive? Rolling Eyes

Here is the culprit, casing has fractured and has obviously got wet when I gave it a wash yesterday.

I did look if there was anything similar from other bikes but can't find anything that matches.

Electrics are my weakest point and it has six wires to it, I wouldn't have a clue where to start to Heath Robinson something together on this one!

Are you going to take it apart. If you get the lid off, you just might find something repairable.

It's a sealed unit filled with silcone gloop stuff.

I know units like these can be refurbished by specialists but it's very costly.

At least I have managed to source one and it's a genuine part... it's just the wait!

May try having a 'nothing to lose' pry at it if only out of curiosity.

"The one from Germany"? The *nearly last* one from Germany? Smile 10 days to 3 weeks. Try talking to the vendor and having a chat, you never know.

Looks like a "FACOMSA 68201002" (Voltage Regulator with built-in flasher unit compatible Peugeot Xr6, Xps, Xp6, Rieju Rs1 and Mh Rx50), I think it could be the same as a "Régulateur de tension Top Performances Derbi Atlantis 50 2T 99-01" (same for Derbi Predator), or whatever on earth this means: https://www.twostroke.se/facomsa-regulator-original-1 or https://en.50factory.com/parts%20news/16207-regulator-to-voltage-xr6-xps-rs1-neuf.html (there seem to be various possibilities).

This?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Derbi-Atlantis-50-Regulator-Rectifier-1999-model/151923472836?hash=item235f5839c4%3Ag%3A4GEAAOSw5IJWeCHX&LH_ItemCondition=4

I might well have missed a model out, but try bunging THIS term into your eBay search:

(derbi,rieju,reiju,peugeot) (rs1,atlantis,predator,xr6,xps,xp6) (regulator,rectifier)

That's the spirit. I suspect that the silicone gloop is heat-conductive and something may have gone "Ffffft!" in a silent electrical explosion if it's all leaked out.

Still. It's interesting to see what's in these things.

That Derbi one on ebay would definitely plug straight in and it's from the same year.....

6 wires? I would hazard a guess that 4 are for the regulator and 2 are for the flasher unit as in two separate things stuck in one case Thinking

Alternatively the flasher unit could have its ground tied internally to the regulator and the two pins are separate flasher and clock bulb outputs.

I dunno? This is wiring diagram

https://i.imgur.com/WFLwXTe.jpg

The best I could figure is that a wire runs from indicator switch to it, brake light and magneto Thinking

I've no doubt it's my issue for both having no flashing indicators and draing new battery though

Just goo I think? All the white fluffy stuff appears to be years of aluminium corrosion.

I've requested to cancel the order for the unit from Germany, should get a reply on Monday. If they agree to cancel I think I'll take a punt on the used Derbi one you gave link for (many thanks for your much helpfullness with that! Thumbs Up ).

So, the one from Germany is cancelled and I'm refunded.

I have found this...
https://www.racing-planet.co.uk/regulator-rectifier-derbi-atlantis-predator-bultaco-piaggio-diesis-p-173533-1.html

It 'looks' identical to mine but I've asked them if it has the built in relay and they say it does not. They also say they can't supply one for my bike Confused

So, what to do? Part of me thinks just try it anyway (maybe they're wrong) and if it doesn't have the built in relay I'm sure it must still work as a rectifier. Would I then be able to add a seperate relay? Confused

That's a tough one. If they say it doesn't, they should be right, but then what are the six connections for? They could be wrong, but.

Putting the number and motorbike maker into a search like this:

rieju 00G01001841

Gives, amongst others:

https://www.dataparts.eu/en/regulator

Which says it's "REGULATOR 6 PINS w. INDICATOR" compatible with RIEJU RS1 50 Sport -01 RIEJU RS1 50 Evo 99.

But. Pfffft!

Looking at the circuit diagram, let's split this into two parts...

Regulator: 2x Yellow (magneto output) Red (+ve) Black (ground)

This looks like a standard regulator. I would imagine anything that could handle the same current as the old one would work.

Flasher: Green looks to be switched power (check this is +12V when the ignition's on) and Purple is flash output.

Assuming the Green wire is what I think it is then there's really nothing special that this 6-wire jobby is doing that couldn't be replaced with a separate 4-wire regulator, 2-wire flasher affair.
