Hi,

Just bought myself a little MTX 125 in Ibiza to keep me busy during the winter. Needs a full rebuild and its my first project. I've no idea of the year/model though and I've not been able to find out off the seller.

Is there a way to find out from a chassis no or something? Heres a pic of the girl with cobwebs and all. Paid about £54 for it in old money.

If you ring a Honda dealer, and give them the chassis number,
they will be able to tell you what year the bike was produced.

Ps. Nice project

Cheers man, I'll do that, probably easier to ring a UK one, my Spanish isn't up to chassis number chat yet!

Yeah looking forward to cleaning her up this weekend. My 2 year old lad is in love with it, hasn't shut up about the thing and cries his eyes out when you drag him away. How young can you get them on pit bikes?! He's already mastered his balance bike.

Does anyone know that paint code/name of this colour. I've found out is an MTX 125 RWD (83-84) Which means its as old as I am.

Parts are readily available from Honda

https://www.cmsnl.com/honda-mtx125_model1214/

The part numbers are relevant to Honda,so ordering the components that you need should be easy enough from your local parts dealer.

I tend to use Dave Silver Spares as a last resort if they are not available from my main supplier,Fowlers of Bristol.

Cheers guys, been able to get plenty of bits so far.

Looking like I'll be better of replacing the whole engine, head was cracked in two as was the cover, looked like it had been repaired with bathroom grout.

On a side note, would some stuff from an XR 400 fit. Like brakes? Someones selling a load of parts and the drums on my MTX don't fill me with confidence!
