 |
|
I got a wireless network card in my pc, TP-Link something or other in a Dell PC running Vista.
If I use the PC fairly constantly I get 10-15MBPS. If I let the PC idle for a while I get 0.5MBPS if I'm lucky but still a really good ping. Re-start the PC I'm back up to full speed.
Plug in a Cat5 I get 60MBPS , but then I have a cable dragged across the carpet.
I've set the power profile to full power, turned off all power savings yet still if I get up in the morning or come home from work I have to re-start the pc before checking my emails or going online or I get dialup speeds.
No smart comments about Vista if you please, I know it's council-house windows but I needed a PC in a hurry and it came fresh-installed from a factory Dell disk. Ain't got time to switch to 7. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

Ok, I'll do that.
Strange that it affects wireless but not wired internet. ____________________ a.k.a 'Geri'

You updated the intel chipset and rapid storage as well as the wireless drivers?
Any more info on the wireless card would be helpful. If it's a PCI-E card, try setting the PC power profile to high performance and see if that makes a difference. ____________________ 2010 Triumph 1050 Sprint ST |
