Reg/recs are pretty interchangeable. Some can fit directly on, some may require wiring up yourself. I wouldn't really attempt to fix one. If it's for a similar sized engine with the same number of wires, I'd just fit it.

I had a reg/rec go a while ago, needed it fixed same day, so went down to local breakers to see what they had, picked up a reg/rec from a box and wired it in when I got home. Works perfectly Thumbs Up

Can you post a picture of it? How many wires go into it?

Ordinarily I'd say you could use any reg/rec but an Italian engined, German bike may be an exception to that. I've certainly seen Sachs bikes that use field coil alternators and regulated 12V AC lighting.

In other words, it might have a different type of regulator to most Japanese bikes.

Cool. Looks like a standard reg/rec there.

So, as J.M. said, you should be able to use any standard 12v reg/rec.

There will be three wires which connect to the alternator. One wire that goes to the battery, one to earth and one to a switched live. Not all of them have a switched live.

If you have a wiring diagram, I or someone else can tell you which is which or if you have a multimeter, you can work out which is which.

That test would be as follows:

Test for voltage between all the wires and earth with the ignition OFF. The one reading 12v goes to the battery.

Test the rest for voltage with the ignition ON. You should find another one reading 12v. This is the switched live.

Now test the rest for resistance between the remaining wires and earth. One should have near zero resistance. This is the earth.

The other three should have an infinate resistance between the wire and earth. These go to the alternator. For a sanity check, test resistance between each pair, they should all read the same resistance somewhere in the 0.1 to 0.5 ohm range.

If you were to get a bog standard, honda reg/rec you'd connect the red to battery, black to switched live, green to earth and three yellows to the alternator (in any order). If you have no switched live, you can run one from the feed to one of the brake light switches.
