YZF-R125 you choose what colour power band. Laughing

or wait until 2015 and get the KTM RC 125

https://www.ktm.com/gb/supersport/rc-125/highlights.html#.VAjVwxb5lg0

or be sensible and get a CG/YBR.

YZF R125, Derbi GPR125, Aprillia RS4 125, or a WK 125 sport, also there's Hyosung GT125Rs but them weighing a ridiculous 160 odd kilos isn't worth it.

Those are the only decent sports-styled imitation 125cc bikes.

The CBR125R is like an anorexic version of a sports styled 125 haha, but at least it doesn't look like it's trying as hard to be a sports bike. They're more for shorter riders or smaller riders cause they really are dinky little things.

My R125 is for sale Wink

Most 125s are very reliable, my R125 will do like 300 miles to a tank.

XD hey man im only 5 ft 9 or something and I can still get both my feet flat, he'd only have to tip-toe and you can lower the seat etc..

*desperate salesman techniques kicking in*

Actually missed the bit about him being 5ft2, yeah the CBR would be a bang tidy bike to get for your height actually. They're just far too light and thin. Still go an indicated 70 odd though.

How old are you?
5'2".. are you a girl by any chance?
Do we further assume you are still on CBT and L-Plates?
AND more, your query stems from not looking beyond Learner-Legals?

BECAUSE... has to be asked WHY a 125?

If you are over 19, you can take tests for a big-bike, and get a very much more useful 25mile a day, newby freindly 'commuter-twin' like a CB500 or something, and ecconomically, cost of a training course to get the bike licence, and buy and ru the bike, are probably NOT a lot differet to buying a 'decent' 125.

I always say time-on a tiddler is rarely wasted, but you have done some time on one; and if you have lived to tell of it after 8 months commuting, you is probably good enough to pass tests... all you need training for is to get familiar with gears and a heaver (and probably easier to ride) motorbike, and put one under your bum for the actual tests.

If you are over 24, yo can do exactly the same, but take tests for the 'ride what you like' licence, and ride whatever you like, though again, something like a CB500 commuter twin would probably still suit.

How does that slightly tangential suggestion sound? Raise possibilities? Make you wonder? Get you exited?

You get a LOT ore bike for your money the big-bike world, 'cos SO many folk simply cant be arsed to get a licence... be arsed and the world is your oyster, though.

Ahh only one year off the full bike eligibility. I'd say depends how close you are to 24, if you're pretty close I'd wait, keep riding chinese scooters, and go for DAS.

Wouldn't worry about geared 125s if that's what's stopping you going for a full license, you'll get the gears drilled into you by the end of the training, and it's not worth it to splash out on a 125 if you'll only end up wanting to go for your license a year later. The student who I was learning with had never ridden a bike before and he was pretty much the same as me in terms of test performance, just a few more minors but still passed it no problems after all the training.

I just got my A2 license done, was a fantastic experience and definitely made me a better rider anyway, so it's only a positive thing to go and get your license out the way, especially the fact you wont have to renew your CBT every two years.

It all depends if you really want to get a bigger bike or not in the end though I guess.

Laughing Light is what you want from a bike, and the R125 has a massive gap between the fairing and frame, so big illegal immigrants hide in at border crossings.

Haha I didn't notice it myself at first until someone pointed it out D: it does look a little goofy actually.. And the way the tank looks is a little goofy too. I used to love the style and then I saw an R6 up-close with it's internals bulging right up against the fairings and thought fuckin' 'ell thats a proper bike.

And yeah for sure you do want a light bike but it felt lighter than the pizza scooters at work so I wasn't used to it haha.

For his size, a ninja 300 would be a good fit. I used to work with someone who was far too small for my R125 but, bought a Ninja 300 and it was perfect for them.

Yeah the 300 has a much lower seat height, doubt that'll bother me at all I'll probably end up liking it. One thing I'm curious of though is how low the foot pegs are, I don't like low foot pegs cause I know I'll be scraping the shit out of them if they're too low o.O

ZX-6Rs are sexy bikes.. Shame I'm stuck on the A2 for two years eh Laughing then again that doesn't mean I'd even be able to afford the insurance on a supersport what with living in london Rolling Eyes

OK, so doing a course to get a ride what you like licence is an inevitability then. Why NOT cut to the chase and do it sooner rather than later?
An A2 course to get the 45hp licence will cover most of the commuter twins quite comfortably, and give you beneft of propper trainig to learn gears, rather than leaving you to figure it out for yourself, plus a bit more besides.
Gives you a licence to ride something like a GPz500S or 300Ninja till you are 24, and if you go back to school you dd A2 course with, with A2 licence, they'll know you are 'there' and just need to repeat tests, probably on exact same bike you did them on 1st time round, just with the restictor box swapped, so two 'test-lessons' only to accompany you to center and let you get on with it, to 'upgrade' to ride what you like licence.
Job-Jobbed in two stages; avoiding another 125, that is more expensive and less useful for what you need, by way of 25 mile a day, reliable commuter transport.

Search for Schools, not bikes, I say.

£500 or so for a course, £800 or so for a tidy GPz500S and you will have a HECK of a lot more bike, for same money as a care worn YBR125, or a pretty tatty learner-abused older CBR125.

AND a fair bit more learning & know how to use it from the traiing.

Look at ZZR not quite the ZXR but insurance is lower I pay under a ton where as a Ninja would have been just under 200. You can even restrict the 400 to comply with A2.

I bought a CBR125R a month ago as a learner with the aim to give it to my gf when I move up in a few months time.

Its a great little bike imo. Performance wise it, its as much as I would expect from a 125 and more. Will keep up 70mph in most conditions and is peppy around town. Reliable and good on gas.

Only thing I would say it is quite small, and the rear tire is skinny. Which is a good thing for traction but doesn't do much for looks.

If you're 5'2'' it should be perfect for you. My gas 5'0'' and she finds its too high for her.
