Not sure if you all go into Workshop, but I have just posted a scan from PSB this/last month on de-restricting speedos.

Might want to take a look

(Oh, First one to mention Budgie Smugglers, gets a slap)

It's a bit of a fart about method. Easiest way if the restriction is just on the speedo is fit one of those MPH converters (£20 and about 5 minutes to fit) then for the speed restrictor to kick in you would need to be doing 180MPH.

If there is also a restrictor that limits top gear RPM then you need to fart about with resistors but as I found with my ZZR it's an imperfect method (was hesitant in top after 10k and sometimes the failsafe restriction would kick in limiting all to 10k). Was better in the end just to fit a CDI from a ZZR600 that totally ignored any restriction.

Never had any issues derestricting my GSXR's which work by retarding the ignition in 5th and 6th. How can it be an imperfect method when you are feeding the CDI the same information it receives in gears 1 - 4??? Unless your wirings is Smiler quality.

My wiring was fine, the quality of the 23 year old 9 prior owner loom I can't speak for and possibly that was it, even if that was it though MPH converter and alternate CDI (where one is available) hardly break the bank and are a hell of a lot easier than farting about soldering resistors in.
