Today when I went to my local bike dealer to get some gloves I was looking at the used bikes and saw they has R125 in. I had a sit on it and couldn't believe how narrow it felt. I didn't like the way you sat on it at all. It's kind of hard to explain but after sitting on the bike there wouldn't be even a slight chance of me ever wanting to ride that. However it got me thinking are all super bikes like that or is the R125 something you shouldn't compare against the bigger bikes? The reason I'm asking is even though I prefer naked bikes I could see myself potentially getting an R6 or GSX-R600 in the future.

Thanks

I've sat on a lot of bikes while browsing at my local dealer and actually rode an R125.
I don't think I've ever been on a bike I dislike the riding position of so much before.Seats too high and bars too low.
It seems like they really exaggerated it and made it too sporty. The fact its skinny and not got the weight of a big bike doesn't help.

Yeah, I think that's what I was trying to say really. To me it feels like it's trying to be a big bike but it just doesn't work at all and is a bit of a mess and it's over £4000 new!

I own one, it's nothing like a big bike let alone an R6, but it's a fun small bike. If you sit on an R6 then sit on an R125 they don't even feel like they're made by the same company, the R125 feels like a bicycle in comparison.

Still a good little bike though, grab one if your heart wills it Razz

There seem to be a fair number of problem examples out there. Burned pistons, hooky cooling systems.

Say that yours hasn't had any problems. I dare you. I double dog dare you.

I`ve heard its Air in the oil system caused by an over heatin bent radiator ... if it had a water pump that could be the cause aswell .. means it wants a new filter Thinking

Well Borg, all bikes have their problems, it's how we learn to fix em right? Wink

I mean sure, there's been the odd problem here and there but they've all been fixable small problems, I've not had any major issues with the bike so far.

Most suffer these as a consequence of being a 17 years olds first bike that HAS to be bounced off the rev-limiter 23 times before up-shifting because the "blue powerband" makes the engine rev better Rolling Eyes

I made sure everything was blue on mine. Blue fairings make wind go faster, blue rim tapes add 3bhp to the wheel, and blue headlights make people move out the way because they think im the police. This one time I got it to go faster than an R1 I was racing, honest! Laughing Laughing

WOW! it must have been a rocket! I got stuck with a pink powerband, red rim tape and green neons on the undertray - I tried to co-ordinate the colours but everything was out of stock and I have no patience - I NEEDED SPEED NOW!!! Topped out at 135mph..... wish I waited for blue stuff now......

Ah mate is that it? Only 135mph!? That's a shame, I was looking at upgrading to the carbon powerband, should be able to squeeze out 10mph more top end than the blue powerband.

They're nice bikes. Get a loud exhaust though. Like the R125, the stock ones don't do it any real favours.

Thumbs Up

Already made a choice for a slip on exhaust, MGP Growler is the one. £270 for one of those, as opposed to all the ridiculously expensive aftermarket full systems like the scorpion/yoshimura/leovince etc.

Quite frankly, my FZ750 doesn't feel like an R6 and my FZ (at 25 years old) will make the typical 125 rider shit themself.
