Hi guys,
Bikes been off the road for a long while (last year) , (had a problem with the carb). Anyway got the new carb on today and it's all running sweet went to go for a blast and pulled the clutch in and knocked it into first and the bike just stalled like the clutch lever (although feels fine/normal) wasn't working at all, tried again in second and the same again. One of my mates said my clutch plates have stuck and i need to tie the clutch lever back overnight , then put it in 1st and rock it back and forward sharply to free it up, would you agree? It did work fine before the carb went and i haven't touched anything related to the clutch but it's been a long time since it was used.
Thanks for your help.

Hi

I would hold the front brake on and rev the engine while putting it into first. My old AF1 used to do this every morning. You can also let it warm up for a bit, with the clutch pulled before putting it into 1st.

All the best

Keith

Cheers Keith,
So hold front brake/rev...3/4k? then knock it into first with the clutch pulled in. The bike was warm when i tried but i hadn't been holding the clutch in while it warmed up and it was just at tickover when i tried to put it in gear.

Hi

Yes, those revs should do enough. With the AF1 it would often stall the first time I tried this and then be fine.

All the best

Hi Keith,
Have tried what you said with no joy , plates must be welded solid, what my next choice, remove clutch cover and try and pry the plates apart?

Hi

Probably best to take the clutch out. Should be quite easy on the Rotax 122 engine.

All the best

Keith

Best to separate the plates and give them a clean or just replace for new?

Hi

Probably easiest to just replace them. Sods law you decide to just separate them and when you get the clutch cover off you find something seriously wrong with them.

All the best

Keith
