Petrol cap is annoying the s**t out of me!

The key turns fine, if I open it the mechanism looks like it's working properly. I've sprayed GT85 in the lock and every moving part I can see, and that just seems to have made it worse!

It only pulls open about 1 in 6 attempts. Evil or Very Mad

Ideas?

Smear some Vasoline or the likes round the rubber the next time its open. Wirth giving it a clean first. Remember you have a vacuum in the tank and you may be fighting against it. Is the bike running fine? Big hiss when you open the cap? You may have a part tank breather blockage. Go for a run and try and open. If stuck leave it half an hour without running the bike. If it opens fine then that is what it is.

Or some bastard is having a laugh with the glue Laughing Look around for kids sniggering in the bushes.

Take it off, strip it and give it a real good clean.

Bike runs great, haven't noticed a hiss when I open it. It seems to catch without even running the bike so I don't think it's the breather thing.

No it's: Push down on cap, turn key, swear, jiggle it a bit, swear again, push down to re-latch. Repeat.

I might try taking it off and apart tomorrow.
