hi all, hope everyone is well, of course i have another problem Sad

at high revs my clutch is slipping, lots of rpm but no power Sad

also the clutch release mechanism adjuster has been sheared on one side which means i cant hold the adjuster to undo the locknut Sad

will new clutch springs sort the slip?

could i grind the head off the adjuster and use a grinder to put a "slit" in it for a flathead screwdriver?

also noticed the bike doesnt like to idle in gear with clutch pulled in and jerks forward when running and put into first.

is there anything else i should be looking at buying before i tear the clutch out?

regards and thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

the fact that the clutch isn't clearing correctly means it needs adjust. the springs may sort the slipping, but just as well do the plates while there.

as for the adjust, it hard to say, upload some pics and some one maybe able to help, it may just be worth replacing it. if its the same as Suzuki normally use I would dot he latter as the couple on the inside (where the cable attaches) of the sprocket cover often brake, you will than have a spare inner worm piece to replace if needed

actually thinking about it, check the lever were the cable attaches to on the inside, that maybe be giving some issue for you.

Suzuki standard then, I would get that adjust out and see if it can saved and correctly adjust first before taking the clutch apart. the bit were the cable goes in (The bendy bot on the left of your picture) often breaks as well, so you may have to replace the assembly as that can cause considerable issues similar to the clutch not clearing - but should not cause clutch slip.

as for the screw in the centre, maybe look at replacing it, i had toyed it changing mine once when i was sorting the adjustment, see if you can replace it with the socket head screw, that way the spanner should still fit past it

on the side stand, should be ok to not drain oil providing you don't drop anything in there (gasket pieces and a likes), failing that, lay the bike on it side.

with the side stand keep bowl or something handy to catch any small amount of oil that may still be present.

if you fast

all sorted! removed the front sprocket cover , then the cable, then the release mech, replaced the adjuster and locknut, regreased, back together and adjusted = no more clutch slip!

then i spotted the hole and crease in the engine cradle part of the frame (subframe)

...great.
