hi all!

have a cg125 k1 1978. it has a push-rod engine thats done 39,500 miles. bought it as a non runner last year and have spent my spare time stripping and rebuilding it back to its former glory.

everything has gone well and she runs fine except there is an annoying rattle coming from the 'special pin' that holds the cam in place... its the cam between the crank and the pushrods.

if i start her with the side cover off and push the pin with my finger she sounds good as new!!

does anybody know what, if anything can be done?

dont mind stripping her down again if that will cure it...

any help would be much appreciated as she's a lovely old girl.

thanks in advance, Rich.

don't think that would be quite up to it...

i did bodge it by wedging a bit of metal between the pin head and the crank case but im a little reluctant to use it as a long term fix...

Hi

Could either create a new thread or resurrect this one in the hope that tricky69 may have solved this problem.

Anyway have exactly the same symptoms on the OH's 1977 CG 125, have quietened it down by filing a screwdriver bit down and wedging it in the gap just to test it, but looking for a more permanent fix if there is one.

Camshaft bearing is fine its just the component identified by tricky that's rattling.

The last post was made 12 years, 19 days ago. Instead of replying here, would creating a new thread be more useful?
