Evening blasts aren't quite the same when the last leg's in darkness. Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness, close bosom friend of the maturing sun...*coughs up blood into handkerchief, etc. etc.*

And I'm thinking of all the rides I had planned back in April, all of which remain unridden. A solo trip up to Scotchlandia for some wild camping and proper cooking fires, maybe even getting as far as aberdeen. Coming back down the west coast and visiting an old friend that works for a scotch distillery on some weird little island or other.

Heading down south and visiting Maidenhead where we used to go on holiday when I was little. Blah.

Now, I know from Touring and Exploration that bcf people have been out and about. But come on. What trips had you planned but still haven't managed to ride this season?? Fess damn it.

Spain... Unlucky Cadwell Park crash ruined all my plans for 2014.

Trackday crash at Rockingham in June scuppered most of my Summer. Still made it to Assen for the MotoGP on a bike held together with tape. Then had a bird strike a few weeks later that destroyed the screen and what was left of the top fairing. It's been a summer of replacing parts. Sad

Didn't/couldn't go to the Scarborough Gold Cup race, also didn't do the motogp at Silverstone where our plan was to have the 'Pedrosa Challenge' wherein a lifesize mannequin wearing Repsol leathers and helmet would be thrown as far as possible.
It's in aid of drug abuse. As we all know drug abuse has declined over the past decade and we want to put a stop to it.

No more holidays left until 2015 and other stuff going on means other than A-B riding I won't be venturing too far.

o, my Nurburgring trip never happened. Spent the long BH weekend with the missus instead as she her work hours changed.

I'd like to say I missed out on the Summer due to getting knocked off the VFR but I quickly remedied that with the CBR, I just didn't feel like it taking it out much Neutral .

With graduation and moving out amongst other things priorities have changed I guess, haven't felt inclined to just go for a ride out to Wales or Scotland like I used too, bit sad really but hoping to make up for it next year with the Honeymoon tour of Spain on the 'new machine' (pending) Thumbs Up .

Maidenhead.... you are talking about the one near Slough? Shocked Where did you stay?

Anyway, season may be nearly over now but just get it all planned and booked for next year then you are committed.

I did France this year on the Eurojolly weekender. It was cheap, it was fun and we did some nice rides and a bit of touristy stuff. Only because I did the earlier crossing did it mean half a day off work.

Get yourself on something like that next year.

Later I'm on the ferry for Holland and off to the BSB at Assen for the weekend. Only cost £60 each way for the night crossing and that includes a cabin, so not an expensive trip really. That's my last proper one this year.

Just do it Thumbs Up

I managed to do everything I wanted to this year Very Happy

It's sunny all year round in Republican Catalonia but this summer's been an absolute belter.

Discovered tons of new roads, toured Mallorca, took my Xt600e commuter off road (and wrecked it a bit) and ragged the absolute shite out the hornet.

Just wish I'd managed to flog the Hornet. The only negative. Desperate to get a supersport.

I *think* the district is called Altwood. I appreciate it's probably just A. N. Other suburb of somewhere down south to most people but to me it was ace! I was only very little though. We used to swim in the thames at hurley and stuff. This is way back in the mid '70s. Embarassed

When it never rained in summer, it was belting hot and your ice cream never melted? Mr. Green

I want to ride to Africa. I have no idea how, or why or when, yet it remains in my conciousness as something that has to be done.

Just kidding Wink I was born and bred just down the road, went to school in Slough...

It's a lovely area around there, Windsor, Marlow, Henley etc. and all those other little villages along the river. Think you will find it has changed a bit since the 70s.

Missed out on a planned 3 week Euro trip this year Sad

But managed a few days up in Yorkshire/Cumbria in (mostly) boiling hot sunshine, so that was good Smile

Several rides to Wales this year, including BCF trip. Smile

BCF BBQ done Smile

Exmoor ride last Wednesday Smile

Japfest last weekend Smile

Still got Staffordshire classic bike show to come, and I'm sure there'll be more good weekend rides before winter gets a grip.

So on the whole, not too bad.

Next year pretty much on hold though, until the house is sold and I get moved to wherever; future looking interesting anyway.

Such a negative thread needs some balance Mr. Green

Missed out on the whole summer's riding cause I went to the US for 3 months.

Hired a Harley to ride to the Grand Canyon from Vegas. It rained on all 3 days I had the Harley. Didn't rain any other day. Didn't make it to the Grand Canyon on the bike due to visibility problems (No visor) so had to hire a car instead.

Pretty pissed off.

Now i'm back home and haven't been able to ride since because i'm waiting on refurbed calipers to turn up and i've been waiting since Saturday and it feels like fucking decades.

Put very few miles on any of my bikes. Now I've sold the Explorer I'm finding I don't miss it at all.

Something is very wrong with me!

I actually enjoy riding in cold weather if adequately dressed. And yes, the days are shorter but then again I never liked very long rides...So, all in all I'm actually looking forward to the next few months.

Passing my test late summer means Ive had to try and cram it all in quick. Hopefully if its anything like last year, then it shouldnt be too cold and snowy down here and still be able to carry on well into the winter.

Been building a bike all summer only to find problem after problem, should just about be ridable by the end of next week, right in time for the end of the summer! Another winter in the garage for it, at least it looks nice in there now rather than being in boxes.

Wanted to get out to France this year.

Knackered my back in May so didn't even make it to any local bike meets. Lots of riding but mostly work or study related.

Only real "fun" ride was to Calne bike meet which ended up to be an overly commercialised shitfest populated by bikes that had clearly only left their heated garages for that one day a year. Ride there and back was fun though. Tossers even wanted 15 quid for a paper thin cheaply printed t-shirt.

Not making any plans next year just see what happens, though the way it's going I'll be a quadraspaz before Winter ends!
