Probably an excuse but this is cited as making it too costly to continue.

In order to meet the tighter SOx limits, they will either have to use low sulphur fuel, which is far more expensive than the current stuff, or they will have to install exhaust gas scrubbers, which aren't cheap.

This issue has huge ramifications for global shipping, which will impact us in various ways, such as the price of goods that have been imported by ship (ie, lots of everyday stuff) and the price of road diesel (as ships start using overlapping fuel types).

Not really...

A day after the announcement that the ferry service from Harwich is ending a new operator has stepped in. Regina Line.

crossings look to my jaded eyes to be really quite affordable.

so.. as an example. travel April 2015 to June 2015

one way

2 people sharing £60 each for an inside cabin + £20 per motorcycle.

1 person £80 inc single supplement + £20 for the bike.

If you can stand roughing it.. then you can have a seat + bike for £70 (so £140 return!!)

Sooner or later opinions fade and the name on the tank matters not. I think that happens somewhere between 3rd and 4th gear. Enjoy the ride... everything else takes care of itself.
