Its alive!!!

After fettling with the spark plugs, coils, fuel lines and battery it finally fired up.

Pictures will follow, but so far it has had a basic clean.

Initial tests produced no spark. This was down to the coils which has got wet during the initial clean.

Fuel filter was added and new fuel put in. Oil checked and changed.

Now we know that we have a working engine the project can begin.

Not sure yet as to whether to keep as standard and to get it to 'as new' condition as possible or to go for something like this like this:

That sounds good to me. Thumbs Up

The other link is based on the old CB 500/CB 550 I think.

Good luck with it.

Nope - that's the '90s frame and lump.

Personally I would just get it back to something like how nature intended. Imo this bike won't take any tarting or tatting up, and especially won't stand ratting, bobbing, chopping, cafe-ing or owt like that. It's just what it is - a comparatively tough utility bike. Any "projects" I've come across just looked stupidly ugly - even seen a choppered one. Would've been funny to behold had my eyeballs not recoiled in terror through the back of my skull, and rolled off down the gutter, eventually turning up at home a few hours later, bloodshot and weary.

Wonder if that tank will fill out? Looks a bit serious from here. "New" ones are getting thinner on the ground apparently. Afaik, the tank for the S is the same as for the unfared one - but check that if you decide to replace. Normally go for about a ton on eBay.
