The bike was going over the speed limit, you see, so it was his fault.

I love how everyone says you cant see a speeding biker.

He's just done an overtake so would have been in their direct line of sight and the car just bolts across the road, doubt he even looked for a bike Laughing

That is close however.

Might even've been on the wrong side of the road when the driver looked.

Speed can make someone more difficult to see - people look in zones based on what they expect to be able to see coming.

I was trying to work out what speed he was doing - it looks like the speedo is behind the key, but surely he didn't accelerate all the way north of 200km/h in such a short space of time?

If he did exceed 200 in what looks like a 90 limit then I can understand how someone could misjudge his speed, especially given the rate of acceleration.

Nah fair point, agree with speed and being able to judge it head on, but I always play by the "if unsure, wait" rule.

In high def, full screen, you can see he top's 200. Still no excuse though. Glad to see the usual cager mentality though, 'cos of course cagers NEVER speed Laughing

I'm still surprised he topped 200km/h that's ~130mph from 40ish in such a short space of time...

If that is the speed and it's accurate then of course it's an excuse... Nothing to do with speed limits, simply that judging speed accurately is hard, harder still when it's a thin & small object, harder still when it's accelerating and to cap it all off harder when it's way outside expected norms (ie more than double the road's rating).

Humans just aren't built for it... the overtake and the excessive speed & acceleration would've made it very difficult for anyone to judge. Had they collided it would've been a combination of faults but I bet I know who would come off worse.

Oh, Biker is deffo at fault. It's when people try to place all fault at one parties feet in incidents like this I get a bit irked. Piss poor obs from driver, reckless riding from biker. If people just learnt lessons from these sorts of videos instead of demonising one party or the other, the roads would be all the better for it.

Agree both could learn from this. Bike was going too fast but no so fast as to be invisible.

Also, although going fast he seemed to be totally on the ball - rolled off the throttle and hit brakes very early, as soon as car shifted out slightly. Fraction of a second later and he would deaded.

Probably finished his journey (to the shop to get some new pants) more slowly i bet.
