 |
|
I've been slowly doing up the ZZR after being knocked off back in June,
Just finished sorting white powder coated wheels and now sorting bodywork and paint.
I had been planning on using the standard Kawasaki purple that they came in (which my bike had been re-sprayed into) with a white stripe up and over the middle of the bike, end to end, over fuel tank, top fairing and top of the tail.
However I've just seen a Triumph Speed Triple in a dark purple which looks lovely but not sure how the dark purple would sit with the white wheels and stripe, trying to find the actual colour online has now opened up Imperial Purple...
So, which to choose? ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

Rattle can black or white. Or Hammerite. With a brush.
If you want Street Triple Purple, maybe buy a Street Triple? ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.

Getting a bodyshop to sort and spray as the weather isn't good enough, nor do I have enough time to spray in my garden.
Wanting to stick to something I should be able to get a touch up can made up easily for the next 10 years (I'm planning on keeping this bike until it drops apart) ____________________ Looking to pass your CBT / Bike tests in Bury Lancashire? try www.focusridertraining.co.uk Would recommend.

Have you asked them if they can get Imperial Purple mixed up and / or how much it would cost? I'd imagine it would be a very pricey mix.
Manufacturer colours that have a lot of pearl etc can be very expensive to have matched up (if you can at all without buying from the manufacturer)! You can pay over £100 for a quarter litre for some basecoats such as the some of the TVR, Lambo' colours etc.
If you're doing a full respray and not having to match up to existing I'd be far more tempted to just get something you like and keep a quarter litre or so in a cupboard for if you ever need it. Or just go for a less expensive manufacturer colour. My local paint shop will mix most colours for around £28 for a litre of base but it does get much dearer when you start getting into fancy pearls etc.
I mixed a custom paint for the wheels on my car about 7 years ago, I made plenty more than I needed as it was just an experiment and wasn't going to the hassle of trying to store a formula. I still have the paint in my garage and actually got it out the other day as I intend to do a few small bike bits in it - it's still perfectly useable |
