Hello

I was following this guide: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95nlrP-yn2I

Everything is almost the same, but unlike on the video I cannot tap through to the pilot jet.. or at least I cannot like the video shows 11:10

Here is a picture of my carbs:
https://i60.tinypic.com/s0yjx5.jpg

and below, according to the video I want to tap that out.

https://i60.tinypic.com/znk1sw.jpg

Any ideas? first time I've done this and I should have left it to the pros... :S

Knock it out with the handle end of a small screwdriver, a rubberised or plastic handle will not damage anything.
Drop the screwdiver throught the top of the carb and tap it out with a hammer!

The carb I've just done was an interference fit not a screw thread, obviously don't try and force it out if yours is a screw fit!

But which one is it supposed to be! the smaller one or the larger one.. I don't even know if I have anything small enough for that hole.. It seems a lot smaller than in the video.

Here is a picture looking down - https://i58.tinypic.com/ac74pj.jpg

The carbs are from the NC27 CB-1 if that helps.

The pilot jet on that carb is the brass bit without a screwdriver slot it is a push fit you can remove it with pliers if you are very careful

Thank you, that makes a lot of sense.

I'm trying to pull it out, incredibly tight. Could I heat it up/use WD40 to assist in this?

I always managed to get the out with a bit of penetrating oil which WD40 is a very poor example of
I also cheat if it really stuck and put the whole thing in a bath of peregrinating oil in an Ultrasonic cleaner and give it a good shaking Smile)

Well, I gave it a good soaking in warm de-greaser, came out nice... then rinsed through several times with hot water. Dried in the sun. Re-installed.. started up after 30 seconds of cranking... nice!

Only issue, idling at 4000 RPM! not good, tried turning it down but could only get to 2000 before running out of Idle screw turns... Embarassed

I'm not sure but I think I need to turn the mixture screws back to the factory stock? Would this explain the huge Idle speed...

I wanted to make sure they are all roughly the same, have not changed.. perhaps I will need a sync tool for that....

I've turned them all up the the max tightness then loosened them all one full rotation.. The engine Idle is extremely high, I guess all I do now is go through each one and turn the screw a quarter turn and keep testing... I keep going until the Idle is correct?

You will need to experiment unless you have a fuel air meter
The CB1 is jap market and their fuel is rather different
I would start at two turns out and try 1/2 a turn each way
This sort of set up is very time consuming

OH and balance the carbs first and after it is sorted do so again

Yes lots of time hence lots of money if you have to get the pro's to sort
