Looks cool. I wonder what advantages it offers over conventional anti-lag systems.

I know it's cool and I should be amazed but I am not. Why not to use compressors instead of the turbo chargers to eliminate the lag? Thinking

Compressors?


Yep, Mercedes still use them in their cars and their cars are certainly not slow. Is see the misunderstanding here, it should have been a Kompressor, not compressor, although I guess it does not really matter.

Kompressor/compressor does the same thing as a turbo charger, but it is not driven by the exhaust fumes. In fact, it's driven by the engine itself. Belt/chain/gear driven = no lags.

Superchargers are heavier, more complex and sap some power from the engine.

I've heard of a ''supercharger'' but always used the German terminology and called it ''Kompressor''. Supercharger sounds way to 'murican.

Are CLK's sold as superchargers or Kompressors in the uK?

Kompressor, while it is the german for supercharger, is the name of the model - they are still sold as clk compressors over here.

IIRC Lancia did twincharging in the 80s, same as VWs newer engines. Supercharger provides the low end boost, turbo takes over higher up. Cool

That pulse jet sounds awesome though

not sure about the dual bit, but they were powered by pulse jets for sure
