Hi Folks,

A colleague is looking to do his CBT. Any first-hand recommendations please?

Thanks,

Steve

Hi

Sorry to natter - I'd appreciate suggestions if possible. I know it's bit of a minefield with some places being much better than others!

Cheers,

Steve

2nd hand recommendation, of sorts:

My wife did her DAS with Lightning and got on well with them. Most of the lessons and the test ended up being Oxford. I think that's where the nearest test centre was.

They seem to operate out of Rivermead in Reading though, so you may be able to do your CBT there as no test centre is required.

My own personal recommendation would be Bike2Bike. I went to the Newbury operation. Can't really speak to highly of Steve, the top guy there, all new tip-top machines, makes it all really simple
Would be well worth your friend checking out their Reading operation...
Like to think I've some experience, as I had to walk away from 2 second rate so-called schools with nothing to show for my money.

Likewise, Mrs angryjonny left one school behind before she found and liked Lightning.

Did mine at Pinewood motorcycles in Wokingham. Very happy with them, would recommend.

I did mine at Quickstart in Taplow

Just down the hill from Taplow station so easy enough to get to by train but you'll need to be on the all stations one not the quick one.

I'd recommend Lightening Pass as well - I'd advise against Pinewood. I did my CBT with them and 1 lesson before the guy put me off so much I refused to go back.

Another vote for lightning. They do the CBTs at Rivermead.

I was really happy with the CBT, although on the day I went there was 1 instructor and 4 taking the CBT, so for the on-the-road section, two guys had to hang around for 2 hours while the other pair went out. The instructor (Lee, I think) was really good.

Mind you, that was 3 years ago now Shocked
