rubber rim strip for cast wheel?

Is rubber rim strip necessary for cast wheel & tube tyre too?
My bike (YB125SP) has cast wheel and tube tyres.
I visited motorcycle parts shop yesterday, shop dude told me rubber rim strip is necessary for cast wheel too. Is this true?

If you mean the rubber band that goes around the inside of the wheel it is meant to stop spokes piercing the innertube so unless the casting is really bad it shouldn't be needed.

Thanks! Yes I meant rubber band. I will check the cast wheel surface when tyres arrives at the shop Thumbs Up
