Rebel Dogg in Milton Keynes are running a half price GroupOn offer, £59 instead of £120 for a CBT.

You can take it on a 50cc twist-and-go, or a geared 125cc.

https://www.groupon.co.uk/deals/milton_keynes/rebel-dogg-motorcycle-training-milton-keynes-2/44914442

Not sure how long the deal will be running for, but if you buy it now, you get something like 90 days to redeem it.

I completed it yesterday, it's legit, no hidden fees or compromises when you get to site, instructor's a top bloke. I wrote a quick review in the 'praise' post so I won't bother with the details again: https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=3982900#3982900

(i don't work for or with Rebel Dogg - nor do I get anything for referring people, I did a CBT with Horizon about 4 years ago and now decided to get back into riding, the groupon deal is the reason I picked these guys)

Damn that seems a good price, how do they even pay the instructor costs for that? Shocked

The certificate itself isn't far of that price let alone instructor wages and petrol.

Looks like 4 learners, 3 whom were re-doing CBT, to 1 instructor.

How did he handle the road rides? Maximum 2:1 ratio, minimum of 2 hours. By the book...?

All done 'by the book' as far as I could tell.

It seems they only ever take 4 people per instructor for the training, then only 2 at a time for the 2 hour road ride.

I guess our instructor had it 'easy' with us, 3 people with previous experience, and 1 on a twist and go.

I literally asked the question 'How come the price is so stupidly cheap?', they said they are just doing it to simply promote the new site (they've not been in Milton Keynes long apparently). Horizon are pretty dominant here, so they had to do something to get the business. I guess they're hoping for DAS sign-ups, which would be around £700.

So it was Me + Girlfriend, and two guy mates... the instructor said they don't like to take partners/friends on the road together, so he'll split us up (I rode with one guy, the gf went out with the pedboy). It's a pain waiting around for the 2 hours, but I do think it's a good idea to split people up, I would have been constantly checking how my other half was doing, and if I was with a guy mate, we'd probably find it hard not to 'race'/interact with each other.

We already bought our gear (at dirt cheap prices in the last george white sale in swindon), but the stuff he gave the other lads looked legit. I didn't pay much attention, but one was given alpine star gloves, the jackets all had 'stage 3' back protectors in them - think there was some johnny rocket/frank thomas ones on the rail... could be wrong about the jacket brands, but they looked good, not some dodgey eBay back of a chinese factory stuff.

So I can only say that I think it's full on genuine, by the book - even had to do the numberplate eye test (not all centres bother with this -fact), both parts of the license, must wear boots (basketball style trainers were a strict no-no), the pedboy didn't have a driving license, so his road ride lasted about 2.5 hours (much to my gf's annoyance Very Happy ), the instructor kept them on the industrial estate for a while until he was happy that he knew how to 'use' junctions and that he wouldn't be freaked out by oncoming cars/people/etc. To me, that was a good sign that they actually cared about creating safe riders, rather than do the minimum 2 hours and stamp the paperwork.

So they 'made' £240 yesterday... after instructor fees and petrol I doubt they have much in the way of profit, BUT, he was a good teacher, and it's the first time my GF has said she feels confident to do the full Cat A test (she was planning on staying on a smaller bike), so they'll probably get us two as DAS students early next year (money money money)

To be completely blunt, I had the attitude of: "I already know how to ride, albeit quite out of practice, so even if they're shit, at £60 as long as I get my stamp I'm happy, I can do any further training elsewhere". Perhaps if I were completely new to biking I would have been too wary of a 'too good to be true' deal with a new (to the area) company.

You're making it really hard for me to be cynical about this. Razz

Hmmm.

Girlfriend was left alone with pedboi for 2 hours, you say, with nothing to do...? Perhaps she helped him practice his gear changes. Thinking

When I did it in a group of three they sent two out for an hour, when they came back one stayed while I went out for an hour with one who'd already done an hour.
Then we came back and I went back out with one who still needed to do is second hour.
Whoever was sat around went for their dinner.
Does that sound right or have I confused myself Smile

Sounds about right, we did it on twos, whom ever went first would have lunch during the second hour.
Also who ever went first would finish an hour earlier.
