Was going to fit a set of these for winter and read that they have "an intelligent battery saving mode that turns the Hot Grips off, even when you forget to do so"

Its easy enough to put a relay in etc but its still easier still to just connect to the battery like it says.

Will this be ok to go straight to battery and trust the intelligence of this controller ??

cheers

Personally, I wouldn't trust it - fit a relay.

I suggest going to your nearest J&S and buying their grips which are remarkably good and look just like the hotgrips from before they started using all kinds of pointless electrickery. They are also cheap and more reliable than hotgrips.

Ive got the Oxford hot hands which you wire straight to the battery. Had them 2 winters and have never forgot to switch them off even once. To be honest. ..knowing you will be stranded if you forget is normally enough to prompt you check the light is out once you get off.

It's bollocks it never worked for me. Simple is best with heated grips. I went through 3-4 Oxford electronic Controllers as they kept going wrong. Sickpup gave me a basic switch one and it has been fine for years. Splice it into the rear brake light feed or any switched live, jobs a goodun.

I can't recall ever having purchased an oxford product of any sort that wasn't inherantly slightly shoddy and disappointing. Never tried their grips but I dread to think what their electrical devices are like.

The old ones were great, then they decided to go digital and they sucked so much Laughing

I actually fitted a pair to my ER6F yesterday. Tested them out before fitting to see if I needed a relay or not. Just hooked it up to the battery and turned it on. It automatically senses that the bike isnt on and auto turns off after 5 mins. With the bike running however it stays on. Bright lights on the dial anyway so pretty easy to remember to turn off.

Never had heated grips before, bloody amazing Exclamation Couldnt believe how easy they were to fit too... Eventually.... I ended up gluing my throttle shut by spunking on too much glue. Ended up having to remove the throttle sleeve and scraping off loads of glue Embarassed

Went for the sports version over the touring ones, perfect fit on the ER6
