Moped riding

Ive been riding about 4 months now ive got a piaggio typhoon derestricted dose about 45mph wegihts a tonne lol.
any way
all my mates mange to wheelie there moped iin carparks but i just cant get mine up lol
i know there serously underpowerd but u think its possible??
also I find it diffucult on my bike to take the corners as fast as my freinds and i normally end up breaking slightly were they just easy off the throatol dose this make me a bad rider??
and
dose anyone know anyone tht dosnt have the chicken stripes on the moped still lol becuase i have yet to see one with out

How did you get your karma above red 9?

I could wheelie my Gilera SKP (extremely similar to the typhoon it has exactly the same frame, wheels, tyres etc) with my feet in the correct place, not on the floor like some people do it. I did have chicken strips but they were very small maybe 2-3 cm from the tyre wall.

I used to be able to wheelie my SKP quite high but never got it much further than a few meters in distance.

roll along at around 2-3 mph but let the revs drop away so it is just ticking over, sit back in your seat, rip the throttle back, wait a fraction of a second for the rotary clutch to grip properly then as it lurches forward pull back quite hard and the front should come up, control the height with the throttle and if you might be going over the back then tap the rear brake.

What scooters do your friends ride, chances are that they ride a runner, nrg, speedfight or dna this is why they can beat you round corners as the have more road orientated tyres and bigger wheels.

The SKP and Typhoon have more knobbly tyres.

you can wheelie most things, its just about having the guts to hang far enough off the back of the thing. i think that there is no way in hell my 125 will wheelie, but i'm sure it has been done a great many times

well im off to a car park tonight im helping my friend break in his mini moto FUN and it will just be us too up there soo if i fall off i wont make a rse of myself lol not tht i wana fall off and scrath my lovely platics..
i dont know how i got kama -9 lol
and one drives a DNA the other an MBX thing and then other a speedflight yer.

also when im try to go round corners and lean quite a bit i can feel the back tire sort of slip well thts wht it feels like whats rong wiht tht or is it normal on a bike??

Firstly, you're gonna fall off trying to copy other people, they will fall off too and you will follow them. Just try and do it somewhere away from hard obstacles and cars

Your bike is telling you that this is as far as you can safely lean, it is worth listening to it, your tyres and handling characteristics are most likley different to the others (see above). Check the tyre pressures are correct though as this can make a huge difference to the handling.

If you want a moped that does wheelies, get yourself an old honda C50. You can do high amplitude wheelies on them from a standing start and keep them up all day long.

If they tyre is starting to slip a bit, thats the bikes way of warning you to stop whatever you're doing before you crash.

Tyres slipping a bit on corners is not something which is normal for bikes generally. The tyre will start to slip if there is something on the road surface which is causing grip problems, like diesel or oil or anything other than tarmac generally. It will also start to slip if you are trying to put too much force on the tyre, so be a bit more gentle to it before you fall off, as thats the next step on from the tyre slipping a bit. Chances are the tyres are not very grippy at all, due to the fact they're not designed or meant to be ridden with much force put through them, so lay off a bit.

The Typhoon tyres slip when you have virtually no tread left... The tyres are so chunky, they are crap for the road, I always find my Typhoon is very rear heavy so cornering is extremely hard because it feels like the front is moving away form you, so you have to position yourself in a way that you can balance the bike back. Because of the Typhoon's chunky tyres, it is possible to lean quite a bit, I can lean much further than my Speedfight friends.

As for wheelying, it is possible, but I have struggled to keep it up, I just get the front wheel off for a split second and it is back down.

The Typhoon isn't that brilliant really, I should know...I have one.

Rear slipping can be great fun tho, if you can control it. Im in need of a new rear purely from a 'its old and skabby' point of view, not 'it needs tread cut out with a penknife' fooked. however i can keept it grippy fine, its just when its wet or im bored, i like to get the fiend slipping around... its funny
