Hi there!

I must say I love this forum and all the help available!

I have just sat my Mod 2 recently and failed it Sad.

Basically, I understand what I had done, but I made a very silly mistake and I fully understand what it was. I believe taking another shot could be quite a nice try! Although it's costing £165 for a re-test with the school, and apparently they're quite adamant on insisting that I take another 2-hour lesson for £85 which puts the fees at £250!

For £260 I could potentially have 4 mod 2 tests! I'm sure I could definitely pass in that!!

I could probably manage to get a bike in a Van and up to the test centre, however what do I do regarding Insurance? The Bike I need insured is an A2 Bike - it will be a Kawasaki ER-6F, restricted to the A2 requirements(I did an ER-6N at the training centre).

Would I just get provisional insurance on that motorbike? Which means I should be legal to ride the motorbike when accompanied by an instructor or examiner? Confused

EDIT: It's the DAS that I was on at the training centre. I've done CBT, Theory, and Mod 1 all there.

The only outfit I know who will insure you on an A2 bike on your provisionaL entitlement is Bikesure. You have something like 3 months to get licensed up.

Then van / trailer / mate rides it in honest, job's a good 'un.

How are you sorted for documentation on the restriction? Remember:

You can use machines not on this list or machines that have been restricted to meet the rules to be used if you give certified proof of compliance or restriction to the examiner.

This must be a certificate or on headed paper from an official source such as a main dealer, official importer or recognised specialist in restricting vehicles.

Dyno certificates alone are not acceptable.

Hmm, so they're charging £165 for a test that actually costs either £75 or £88.50 if it's an evening/weekend test https://www.gov.uk/driving-test-cost Confused

How far is the training site from the test centre? As a minimum you'll need an hour "lesson" + the test fees, that hour will cover bike/instructor hire for the time you're doing the test, and getting there and back. Probably a good idea to have a practice beforehand too, but £175 over the test fee does sound a little too much!

Start by having a word with your training provider.

Edit - reading the post again, it's £165 for the retest (which includes an hour to cover the test time) PLUS another 2 hour lesson seperate from that? Just tell them you don't need/want the extra 2 hours. What was the silly mistake that failed you?
