OK so some how between myself and the missus I've ended up with some annoying ad-ware on my laptop called web protect
this isn't normally an issue for me because normally its quite simple to find and delete, not this time
I've searched high and low and cant find the bastard i tried deleting chrome and re installing which brought it to my attention that its infact attached itself to all browsers. I've run scans I've even gone onto their website in the hopes of finding something to trace the file to no avail it doesn't seem to be on any extension on chrome or in any file, I've deleted everything that's been downloaded in the past week. since starting this post my ad blocker has blocked 14 ads
is anyone able to help
thanks in advance!

Have you actually tried running some form of anti-malware tool?

Just deleting things and/or reinstalling them is not likely to do much good with a virus/malware. A well written one won't live and die in your downloads folder.

Have you actually tried running a decent anti-malware tool like malwarebytes?

This, all day this. Simply finding and removing the named file wont fix it fully. Malwarebytes has a free version which is fine for what you need. Download it, install, run and reboot once done. Give that a try.

When scanning with antivirus or anti malware program make sure you do it in safe mode.

Try installing superantispyware. Free version works well, doesn't bombard you with irritating 'invitations' to buy the full version, cleared a ton of dross of my Windows box first time I ran it.

Cnet says otherwise.
