Don't know if anyone's seen this yet but triumph have been having a play around with the street and daytona and come up with this for 2015:

https://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/14/09/30/6d264755df00b82ff7bd3bf81a743625.jpg

https://www.675.cc/upload/images/rx.jpg

Triumphs Street Triple has got to go down as one of the Hinckley firm’s biggest success stories since John Bloor re-launched the brand – so you can’t really blame them for milking it.

And while there’s a whiff of money-for-old-rope about the new ‘RX’ special edition version – basically a Street Triple R with a few Daytona 675 bits and some other accessories thrown at it – the result is still an appealing prospect.

What’s new? Most obvious is the Daytona 675 rear subframe and tail bodywork, which means that buyers who take pillions might prefer to stick with the normal Street Triple instead. On top of that, there’s a quickshifter as standard, along with a bellypan and front cowl. The red and silver paintwork is also unique to the RX.

The specs are otherwise identical to the ‘R’ model, with 106PS and 68Nm of torque from the 675cc triple, Nissin radial calipers at the front and fully-adjustable KYB suspension at both ends.

Looks nice, but the headlights and windshield.... not digging it.

If it ain't broke then why fix it, just make it look better and chuck in some extras. Looks bloody fantastic. If this was out when I bought my 899 it would have made me think twice.

It will be interesting to see what happens when they give the engin a proper overhaul, but that's probably years away.

Interestingly a lot of 675 owners asking for them to put a daytona spec engine in it, don't get me wrong it's got plenty of useable power but I'm surprised in that mix of the two engine wasn't considered...

Like all but the exhaust. Not such a fan of the side mounted ones, though maybe it'd look good with a more sleek side mounted one?

Agreed initially I wasn't too keen although according to triumph it's a centre of gravity thing, I haven't test ridden a new triumph to be able to express an opinion though.

I could live with anything from the rear up to the fork legs.. but the very front is horrid.

I have to admit the headlights are the only reason I do not like STR

Wish they'd bring back the old round headlights. The new ones just look like every other bike out there.

I'm a bit torn on the headlights on mine, they look a bit odd still but they work so much better than the round ones on the previous version, I do ride at night so I will be keeping them.

They know the first thing most owners will do is fit a different can so this one might work for you... SC Project GPM2.

I think it looks mighty purdy. Interested to see what price it will be as opposed to a Street Triple R.

Am I the only person that likes the headlights?

+1

don't even have to go full daytona spec, another 10-15hp would have had me, hopefully a final edition before they give us an 800 Twisted Evil

I do quite like it, with the exception of the exhaust. Unfortunately though, more and more manufacturers are going this way so I think we're stuck with this style.

I can't see why they wouldn't use the Daytona spec engine:

- It's obviously not too much power for the chassis.
- It's likely to be no more expensive to produce.
- There's only a minor sacrifice in low rev (3k-6kRPM) power.

Well worth it for ~110bhp at the wheel rather than ~90bhp. With 115-120 (plus more midrange) achievable with an exhaust/system/pc. Much more like it, and usable too.

I loved them, then reverted back to coveting the roundies when Paddy got his, but now love the diamond shape again.

Have to say, was not a fan of the red on black on the STR. This looks stunning though. Get an HP Corse Hydroform exhaust on there and it's a winner.

Agree though, another 20bhp would be sweet. The Daytona breathes a bit freer.
