What an absolute ctnu.

Unbelievable, I'm normally to right of Gengus Khan on most matters but what an absolute twxt.

And I always thought they were b...ds for shutting the Remploy factories.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-29628557

I've always strongly believed in the minimum wage and that with keeping us out of the Euro are the 2 good things I can say about the labour years.

Its actually bringing Merca stuff to the UK.

Like workfare, 0hour contracts etc.

In Merca they ran some experiments about how productive a disabled person is vs an able bodied person. The test was quite obviously biased but it came to the conclusion disabled people were less productive and therefore could be paid a lot less.

As suggested to the minister by several disabled charities?

Oh no, that wouldn't make good TV and make Milliband cream his pants, would it?

You mean the BBC have sided with the lefties?!!?!! NEVER!

Wow what a idiot Laughing

But just imagine the reaction if a UKIP member had said it Shocked

As for disabled people, Stephen Hawking seems to be making some decent contributions. Probably more so than Lord such and such. Maybe we should put a ban on Oxbridge people working as Ministers, they're all completely out of touch with the public [and reality].

Are we gonna start dragging up all the shite from governments past?

In that case, how about the blue nosed twats signing us into the now-almost-universally-despised 'common market'?

Well I think it's quite a relevant point actually. If Labour has done the same thing, surely they are equally bad?

I actually disagree with minimum wage.

There are some people who are just unemployable for a certain price point (ie the minimum wage) the business owner is just taking too much of a risk to make it worthwhile paying them say £6/hr.

If you are going to have to pay the £6/hr regardless you might as well get the very best qualified person available to do the job for the money, people who are a bit dim/lacking in qualifications lose out as they get looked over.

IMO there's actually very few jobs that pay min wage, even if only by a few pennies, most of them exceed it.

On the disability thing, one of my mates mums as a kid had no-legs from birth. That didn't stop her raising my mate as a single mum, whilst also pulling in a good £50k+ salary from a high powered county council job. Puts the "oh me back" people to shame....

If the red yuppies where in charge at the time, we'd be fully in right now.

Minimum wage is now £6.50, there are plenty of jobs that pay under £7.00.

Since this is from the Govt, Vince Cable no less, you'd have thought if the number of minimum wage jobs was higher and it affected more people, it'd have been bumped up.

If the unemployment rate is 6%, and that = £2m people, then just in quick calc maths that's something like 3% of jobs paying minimum wage IF the 1,000,000 workers that are affected by the change is to be believed.

Except it's not, it's £2.73, depending on who you're paying.

We already do distinguish based on worth, just with a broad, arbitrary brush.

Which is why a 16 year old Special can get a job licking skips, but a bright 21 year old can't.

Except it's not its £57.35/week. Don't forget companies like Tesco, poundstretcher etc all use people on workfare. So the min wage is actually £1.63 on a 35h working week. Paid for by tax payers like you.

I don't know about that, councils and the word work do not go in the same paragraph.

He is right though.

This is the closest I can find to a full quote and it was a response to a councillor.

Quote:

"Now I had not thought through, and we have not got a system for, you know, kind of going below the Minimum Wage. There is a group, and I know exactly who you mean, where actually as you say they’re not worth the full wage. I’m going to go and think about that particular issue, whether there is something we can do nationally, and without distorting the whole thing, which actually if someone wants to work for £2 an hour."

Why would Mr Small-local-business employ someone at nearly £250 a week, who struggles with the job, because of whatever misfortune they have suffered. The guy is spitballing ideas are a conference where they are, I would assume are supposed to discuss issues like this.

The whole thing typical politics and has been blown completely out of proportion.

Bottom line is as a politician you cannot remotely mention anything remotely negative about a minority group. The only thing I would say against him is he is a fool for saying it, the media LOVE this sort of stuff. People can't wait to be outraged at something.

Disabled people who want to do some type of work can do 'permitted work' which is basically voluntary work and anyone doing that still gets their benefits money from the DWP.
