Yeah right it just by pure chance happened to reference the Falklands war Laughing

Saw the car. Saw the plate on it. Bought the car. Then thought of a "challenge" to fit around it.

Then the BBC reported it as 'news' rather than the blatant advertising for the show that it really is.

the man is a Troll ..
as with all of them .. don`t feed the attention they crave so they can "die"
and... Argentina is inching toward economic crisis, again
This is a country that is constantly on the road to the next crisis..
so a bit of Brit bashin even Clarkson goes down well.

Local councillor Juan Manuel Romano said the digits 269 on the number plate of the Ford Mustang Mustang Richard Hammond was driving were close to the 255 Britons killed during the 1982 war. He added that the numbers 646 on James May's Lotus could be taken as a reference to the 649 Argentinian casualties.

Sounds like the Argentinians were looking for a reason to kick them out.

This.

Its a number plate FFS. If they want to read into it something then that is their issue!

Maybe so but you've got to admit, it's pretty coincidental!

H982 FKL - 1982 Falklands

I mean, what's the odds of finding that plate on a car for a challenge in Argentina? Pretty slim I reckon!

top gear is the only reason I still have a TV license
as its the only thing I watch on BBC

so what if they are a bit OTT
people seem to forget TV used to be openly racist and not that long ago
but it wasn't considered "A bad thing"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9j6l7Va-C7E

stop calling them "Nignogs"
Ok there Black "Nignogs"

oh how times have changed

What's a TV license? Confused

Given your hatred for all things involving the Government (and the BBC), it seems surprising that you'd have one. Razz

I wouldn't put it past the Top Gear team to have realised this 'fact' all along and thought that they could use it in some humorous way in the show or at least have a private in office joke about how they got one over on the Argentinians etc.

23rd September:

The Mirror printed a story on Monday claiming that the Top Gear presenter had been warned by BBC bosses “not to cause a diplomatic row during a Top Gear road trip to Argentina”. It quoted a BBC insider as saying: “There was real panic when bosses learned that Top Gear was going to Argentina of all places. Clarkson and his crew have a record of upsetting foreigners – from Mexicans, the French and Asian – the last thing the BBC needed was a big incident with Argentina. Jeremy has been warned to be on his very best behaviour and to do nothing that would upset his hosts.

Laughing

That is the Daily Mirror to be fair.

All crew are back in the UK now according to Jezza's tweets from this morning.

The reg plate is the original one for that car, made in 1991. It can be viewed on Government websites. It seems pretty obvious that the mobs were clearly organised by the government, they'll make it a victory over the brits and then use it as a distraction from their fucked economy

It's one thing to use this plate, while I can see the joke, it's not the sort of thing that hits my funny spot and is pretty tasteless IMO, but why did they then compound the problem by lying and saying they didn't use the plate on purpose? 'Just makes them out to be bigger wankers than they are.
I'd like to see Clarkson now move to Argentina, it may open the ignoramuses, dinosaur brain to what Racism actually is as he obviously still thinks it's a jolly jape to share with his public schoolboy friends.

Fucking jipper who gives a fuck , you sound like the missus moaning because I haven't done the washing up
