Hello,

I really need to vent my anger here. Just have watched 3 series of Roadcraft made by Think Biker. Bare in mind Think Biker is government funded and I was kind of expecting more for my money. Like video that actually can teach you something?

They say the aim of the videos is to make you aware of Roadcraft. From the whole 3 series so far my conclusion for the Roadcarft is the art of what exactly? Making trailers with smiling bikers? I really want my taxpayers' money they have spent on this more or less useless campaign back Brick Wall Brick Wall

In the description for each of youtube video there's a link to a page which tells you all about the rider training they're encouraging.

At the end of each video it also tells you how to go about finding more information.

Hope this helps. Wink

It appears to be a rather bizarrely timed marketing campaign for IAM and RoSPA; I assume they've funded it at least in part.

Why they'd release it at the point where they stop doing observed rides (because it's too dark to see them) is baffling though.

I do Think! that their role is rather badly defined. Are they just about awarenessness, or are they actually delivering training and information? I don't know, and I suspect that neither do they. Probably depends on their budget and whichever Common Purpose appointee they've got running them this week.

Willing to bet that as far as the DFT are concerned it's just so that they are seen to be doing something to help motorcyclists with the added bonus of possibility making MAG/BMF people go away and spend some time complaining at other departments.

Releasing it at this time of year? They realised they haven't done enough earlier in the year to meet their target for however much money it is per year they're meant to spend helping save motorcyclists from themselves.

I wish this wasn't true, but having worked with government bodies before, I know it is

Yeah they are great at getting the budget without being innovative.

I'm confused if IAM and/or RoSPA as if observed ride there's a distinct lack of hi-viz (at least in video #3 I saw). From my local IAM motorbike group

Plus, and I realise this is one of my gripes, where's the 2 second gap 'tween bikes and why ride line astern not chevron? Answers on a postcard please Wink

It's marketing, it doesn't have to reflect reality. Laughing

Laughing That'll teach me for thinking that IAM / RoSPA had anything even remotely interesting about them...

I was unclear, I meant that Think! will be helmed by some also-ran Common Purpose lizard-people cabalist.

I thought the reason was light pollution.
Are they allowed to take their bikes out in the acid rain or will the paintwork suffer? (not to mention all that cleaning).
