2 years ago today i passed my test.

Pulled these out of my tdr250 about 3 hours ago Laughing

Only gave me about 10-12bhp more but it's quite a bit faster and now gives a nice growl of air intake.

The temptation was unreal. This is my 3rd bike since passing my test and everytime i had them restricted the garage was saying "so we'll just say it's 33bhp and give you the certificate - no need for those washers".

I'm too paranoid though - the day i ride a bike illegally will be the one i'm pulled over.

Now i have to decide what my new bike will be. A nice TRX850 has caught my eye Wink

I have just passed, and it seems like mine were never in, but it was sold as restricted with a cert, I just took their word for it.

Is that really all it is? Why do they charge so much to fit them?

Around that much, but you're also paying for the paperwork and for them to be fitted (although they do seem to have a bad habit of falling out of bikes Laughing ).

And if it is a four cyclinder bike you'll have got yourself four of those things, and if it is fuel injected you'll have a throttle stop as well.

Them saying "so we'll just say it's 33bhp and give you the certificate - no need for those washers" is quite suprising as when you buy the kit from the company who make them they'll be sent the paperwork and the certificate and the restrictors, so if you're paying for them you might as well get them as they'll be useful for when you're selling the bike as it can be sold as 33bhp legal.

I never actually got round to fitting them to my ZX6R, but when I moved up to my TL1000R I got them fitted and removed them and hung onto the paperwork for them.

Have never been asked by my insurance company for any proof of restriction despite them sending me a list of stuff they want me to send back, and they just hadn't ticked the proof of restriction box. Although when I last renewed my insurance and was riding the ZX6R they asked me if my CBT was still valid. Laughing Also never been asked for proof by the police, and when stopped by a traffic police biker he said "so this is the biggest you can ride until you're 21" and I was on the ZX6R. Just agreed with him rather then correcting him, he also told me I should get earplugs as it gets loud about 120mph Laughing, tempting to say "oh so you heard me coming then" but thought better as it was in Reading town centre. Laughing

They don't dyno them at all when the restrict them.

I was charged £150 for mine to be fitted both time (2 bikes) and The kits cost about £110 cos FI International are robbing bastards and Labour is about £40 depending on the dealer.

Incorrect. Thumbs Down The kit is fitted by an approved shop, you then get a certificate and that's it. No need for it to be dyno tested at all. I would expect if the police caught you and didn't believe it was 33bhp they would get it put on a dyno, but the official kits are all tested and everything and are fine. You can probably find out more about this on the FI International website. Thumbs Up

Nope. Only approved shops can buy from FI International and fill the paperwork out. Sad
