I had to sell my luverley GSXR 750 as the new family home decided it needed a new boiler the day after we completed.

So after a month of family warmth vs Bike deliberation, the familys need for heat and hot water won through. I must be getting soft....

Anyway, around January/February I will be in a position to spare some cash for a new bike. However, I can't spend much with the house project.

I need an old faired/semi faired bike, fairly sporty (not Suzuki teapots!) that I can work on with good parts availability and get it on the road ready for spring.

Not asking much am I.

Any hints or tips would be appreciated, and I expect the BCF 'banter' will be equally humorous. Wink

Cheers,
Stu

Local facebook groups can be good.

I have found owners groups / clubs to be a good source.
Nearly got a very good deal on a tourer BMW listed on one of the UK BMW owner sites (not that you'd want that with 'sporty' in your wish list). However, something else came along that trumped it.

As to bike type consider a VFR?
Not exactly sure on your budget. However, parts and experience from others is available.

Gumtree or any local bike groups.

ZZR/VFR/older CBR can be had for cheap and parts should be easy

But last night they changed it from public to private. Hopefully something to do with the number of people bawwing to the police. Laughing Laughing

+1 for local facebook groups. Recently had a CBR600 for £200, RG125 for £230 and a £700 ZX9R currently has my eye on it

Ebay is very much a joke. I want a spare KMX200 engine as complete as possible. I've so far seen a rusty bottom end for £150 Shocked

Thanks for the replys chaps, please forgive my ignorance, but whats meant by facebook groups?

I thought facebook was for long distance familys to look at pictures of each others children, or pictures of peoples food.

Here's an example https://www.facebook.com/groups/303440839727085/

Just type in your town/area and the word 'motorbike' or 'motorcycle' and see what comes up. You have to be quick for the bargains though
