Alright cycle buffs,

I'm after a sensible mountain bike that I can use on some trails, such as dartmoor and exmoor and something I can also pop to the shop and get some milk on!

Popped into a local shop today and they where a specialized dealer by the look of things, explained my situation he suggested this particular model.. Couldn't believe how light it was, love the look of disc brakes too.

Seemed with a few accessories it would do everything I want? It's £600-700, is there anything else I should look at for that money?

If you're doing cycle paths and such, give a CX bike a go. Otherwise given the time of year I'd be looking around to see what's on offer from the previous year's range. Beyond that, it honestly boils down to the paint job and frame shape that floats your boat. Specs aren't going to vary much at this point and alloy frames have matured to the point where nobody really gets it wrong anymore. About the only thing I would try to push for is a model with a Rockshox fork rather than the typical budget Suntour nonsense
