I spent a night last week in the Three Wells Hotel, Llandrindod Wells.
The breakfast was decent, they had a bar, decent enough rooms (only average) wifi, good access to decent roads (the A483 between the town and Newtown rates as one of favourite!), and best of all it passed my 'Would I park my 1198 here overnight' test.
I will be returning!

Have a look at Llanerchindda Farm, 25 miles south west from where you stayed.
Stunning setting, awesome all you can eat buffet breakfast and secure bike lock up.
Last time I was there, alcohol was available through an honesty system.
They had a large fridge from which you took a beer and then logged it in a book so that it could be charged to your room.
