Right.
My car insurance is up for renewal next month and I'll have 1 year no claims bonus.
I've had my car licence for 10 years and am over 25, so rank as reasonably 'responsible'.
I'm thinking about getting a share in a transit-type van with a friend, for transporting bikes about.
Anyone got any smart ideas on the best way to approach insuring these two things in order to minimise expenditure? Multi-vehicle policy? Does 'any car' on my car insurance cover driving a tranny?
Just curious to see if anyone can come up with 'owt clever. |

Try Norwich union. I hesitate to recommend this because I object to any company that uses overseas call centres, but they were £200 cheaper than anyone else for my work 4x4! I also know that they do multiple vehicle policies.
If you can't understand a word the guy at the call centre says, hang up and try again, you will eventually get someone who has a reasonable grasp of the english language
The 'any other vehicle' bit usually stipulates that said vehicle must be owned and insured by someone else before you will be covered in it (no such thing as a free lunch)...maybe possible if it is a shared vehicle, club together and insure the oldest/most experienced person on the van, everyone else use their own car insurance? ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

Alas, I *am* the oldest, most experienced person.
I'll make a few enquiries about multiple vehicle and see what I find. |

Hi
Problem with the cover for vehicles that you do not own is that you are covered to drive them. Hence if you park them and get out you are no longer driving them and so they are not insured on them.
Hence they must be insured by someone.
You cannot tax a vehicle on a policy for another vehicle with "any vehicle" cover.
Also watch out as quite a few insurance companies will not cover vans.
We did investigate trying to get fleet cover but didn't get anywhere useful with it.
All the best
