Anyone else done this? Is there a better way of treating leather boots? These are about 8 yrs old and whilst a bit "baggy" now they are comfy and reliable. They got a pasting from the rain recently and taking a while to dry.

Will try some sneaker balls to get rid of the damp smell inside if I can.

The soles are a bit like glass on my pegs now but someone in another of my threads recommended a place to get them re-soled so I probably will.

Does anyone have experience / advice on treating leather boots? Just want to give them a new lease somehow.

I've got the nixwax waterproof leather stuff which seems good. But i like using a standard leather wax thing.. just sponge it on and good to go, always makes them look a little nicer aswell.

This is the stuff i have.. lasts for ages..

Lidl\Aldi water-proofer aerosols, when it is available I buy 2 or 3 cans, works fine for me.

I use it on jackets too, oh and tank bags and tents and gloves and pretty much everything else that needs water keeping out.

On my really battered old pair of Frank Thomas I use back-to-black or dashboard shine, the cheap as shit stuff from bargain stores, full of silicon, keeps the boots dry, just use it plenty and often.

On a slightly different vein, do those kind of sprays work well on visors? First time out in the wet last night in a long time (all my lessons have been marvellously dry if cold at times) and there was some light, drizzly rain that was just sticking to the visor and blurring my vision.

I've coated visors with pledge furniture aerosol, and it helped shed water quicker, in really light drizzle I have not found anything that works, other than a swipe of the thumb blade.

Only have one pair of gloves with thumb blade, a swipe with the back of my hand if I'm wearing something else.

Or visor up till the forward momentum does the job.

a good pull on the throttle, a long headturn to the left, a long headturn to the right, and the water's gone Smile

Whilst a lot of riders do this I wouldn't accelerate whilst not looking.

Get this... https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/221570489713?nav=SEARCH in the right size. It's the best £6 I've spent on the bike.
