Does English weather kill motor-racing? Discuss

Donington Park Moto GP was diabloical. Was is because of the threat of rain?

Rossi, rode round, everyone followed him and that was it.
That whole bloomin weekend for a procession of Stupidly expensive bikes and no ACTION at all.

Wow, what bikes, wow what riders, but that wasn't a race, that was as boring as Formula 1 has been for years. It must be something to do with England cos Mugello was amazing, Germany was fantastic, Donington was DULL. Plain and simple.

Were they just riding like that because of the wet/dry worries, or what...

Anyone care to comment?

This year's been odd - Yamahas winning at Honda tracks and vice versa, Rossi crashing during a race *shock horror!*, etc. Basically everything's been turned on it's head and you can't predict any race, so it's not such a surprise that Donny was a bit boring.
To be fair, there was some good overtaking, some battles further back in the pack etc. but Rossi just knew he had to win as he's said tracks they're going to after the break won't suit the Yamaha, so he just got his head down and did the necessary, in a way that seems boring to spectators but if you saw how elated he was after the race, you could tell he wasn't just 'riding round'

Just my Penny Coin Penny Coin - feel free to disagree! Wink

Does English weather kill motor-racing?

From F1 point of view the chance of rain may mean some excitement in a race and a possible chance for a non-red car to win.

As for MotoGP I think it was just unfortunate how it turned out this year. It wasn't a close race, Biaggi had a bad day, Gibernau was just off the pace. There were quite a few overtaking maneuvers into the melbourne hairpin. Over a season you are bound to get one or two races that aren't quite edge of your seat stuff, unfortunately this year it was Donington. There was still more overtaking in 1 lap at Donington than a whole F1 season.

English weather doesn't kill motor-racing just look at BSB, there have been some cracking races this year and i'm sure some more to come.

It wasnt as exciting because a) the weather was very dodgy b) no one had a chance of catching rossi c) biaggi had gearbox problems d) and that stupid w**nker who conviscated my camping gaz stove at the campsite entrance really jerked me off? Surley instant barbecues are more dangerous than a tiny gas stove?? He said they were banned last year??? the friggin campsite stall sold them last year??? very dissapointed I had to spend money on overpriced crap all weekend. Anyway I got to see the podium and met jezza and shakey in the pits so that made my day! congrats also to the guy who climbed up the wall to the podium entrance!!!! oh and to all these moaners who complain about airhorns! if anyone has been to catalunya or mugello (REAL PASSION for bike racing) you will see that the crowd are wild and airhorns are a tradition. Im sick of people moaning about the noise of airhorns. They add to the atmosphere and sound great when 130db of pure orgasmic sound comes rushing by. And just one more opinion, can fans please rush to the podium AFTER the victory lap! It is dangerous and unfair as they will stop the victory lap if this happens again. I loved it when rossi told that guy to move out the way when he was doing the burn out after the esses! ANyway still a cracking weekend justa shame the weather didnt provide the atmosphere of 2003! Hey! maybe next year guys! Anyone up for assen next year???
