Coventry streets will be the first in the UK to host motorsport races under new laws introduced earlier this year.

A circuit is being designed so in May 2015 two days of competitive time trials will be held on the city's inner ring road.

The road will be closed to other traffic while British Formula 3 cars, with a maximum speed of about 275 km/h (170 mph), complete laps

From what Mr Noble told me when we spoke last (been friends for the past 10 years) the initial event this year which started the campaign for the change in law went really well and was well attended.

They had parade laps round the ring road (closed road one direction) and car shows all over the city along with bikes and some stock car racing in one of the car parks.

Planning on getting down for next year on the bike.

Confident time trials will go ahead next year with the proposed long term aim of actual racing to follow in future years - the city council are backing the event.

The first in the UK? we have had dozens of these races in N.I for years including motorcycle, rally car, go-kart, racing cars as well as other vehicles through towns and villages that are closed off all day, the NW200 road races are a good example.

First in the UK under the new laws. Technically speaking they are correct.

Bring back BTCC on the Birmingham ring road. Laughing
