Hi Everyone,,Total newbie, live in the Glasgow South area, about to embark on my license journey and wondered if anyone can recommend a good training company to go with for CBT and DAS. I've looked on-line etc but think word of mouth is usually the better route.
Thanks

Contact Gordon at https://www.sharper-ridertraining.com/ if you're anywhere near the Uddingston area. Just got me through my licence, and he's a top bloke.

Scotland sub forum is the place to ask.

My understanding at the moment is:

Ride On. Thumbs Up
Bike It: Thumbs Up

Harleys. Eh?
Route 66. Eh?

Bike Rite. Thumbs Down

Thanks Roger, I was thinking of going with bike it in Paisley so your post kind of puts me at ease a bit, i'm 45 and feel like a kid about to start a new school. Ive been scouring the net for training school reviews and they are few and far between unless you go with the testimonials on their own internet sites, so your info is much appreciated.
Thanks Thumbs Up

The paucity of reviews is disappointing, and you're right to ask around. Thing is, it comes down to the instructors on the day and they can and do move around - there was a very patient lady instructress at Bike Rite when I did my CBT, but reportedly they're down to just the angry shouty instructors now.

Depending on how much you value your time, it might be worth dropping by the candidate sites first to watch how they run their CBT sessions, or even seeing if you can blag a quick go.

I found that there was a lot to cram in to one day and too much time spent on the talky bits in the morning. Do bear in mind that it's not a "1 day course", it's "until you complete it to the necessary standard", which could take a couple of bites if you're coming in completely cold, so cost up extra days or half days.

It's a bit of a slog getting a bike license now, but it is all worth it in the end. I'm so glad that I took the plunge.

I'd ask this again in General to get a bigger audience, and if you're not in the Scotland sub forum yet, you might want to give G, Stinkwheel or Kickstart a nudge.
