As I live in the country's cash for crash capital post code I am thinking of buying a dash cam. Who uses one and do you have recommendations?

If you want to use it for on bike / other interesting stuff, the Mobius is worth a look. Not far off go pro quality, smaller, but £50 and dash cam options.

For a pure dash cam, there are better options however I believe.

For a pure dash cam the link above would be worth a look. You'll definitely want one that's hard wired to start up when it receives power from the ignition, as the day you have a crash is the same day you forget to switch it on.

G sensor recording trigger is also a must. You'll have to play with the sensitivity settings though as 'crash for cash' bumps are usually tiny, you'd just have to check the recording light switches on and that the system also saves the previous 30 seconds or whatever as well (loop recording)

Unless you've got a tiny card, you'll have plenty of time to save any bump footage manually. You'll certainly want to do so since you can't rely on the G sensor.

Bought this one a few weeks ago:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00FKTQ3NE?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00

Small, switches on automatically, and the quality is decent too.

The wife has a Blackvue DR380 (720p) and I have a Finevue CR500HD (1080p). Both have parking mode and both have paid for themselves already with insurance discount and capturing a transit driver causing £4k of damage to the wifes car reversing out of a parking space and driving off.

What does "parking mode" mean?

Parking mode is when you leave the car and the camera records any movement as said and also if the car is knocked it will start recording.

The camera must have a permanent feed for it to work.

This is mine in parking mode (view in 1080p for full quality)....
